Industry Expert Bob Kaplan Joins American Retirement Association

ARLINGTON, VA – The American Retirement Association (ARA) is pleased to announce the addition of Bob Kaplan to its Retirement Plan Academy team.

Kaplan, who was previously VP, National Training Consultant for Voya Financial, joins the American Retirement Association staff as Director of Technical Education, where he will serve as the association’s lead subject matter expert on a rapidly expanding array of educational resources for the retirement plan community.

Kaplan, who has nearly four decades of experience with retirement plan issues, has a long relationship with the ARA, having served both as a Co-Chair of the American Society of Pension Professionals and Actuaries (ASPPA’s) Government Affairs Committee, and as a member of ASPPA’s Leadership Counsel.  He previously served as a member of the Board of Managers of the American Institute of Retirement Education (AIRE) as well as the Board of Directors of the National Institute of Pension Administrators (NIPA), and in 2009, was presented with NIPA’s Lifetime Achievement Award for his contributions to the retirement plan industry.

“Bob has contributed to our conference content with his subject matter expertise for years,” noted Chris DeGrassi, Chief of Retirement Education at the American Retirement Association.  “We are thrilled to have an individual with Bob’s experience and expertise join the Retirement Plan Academy team, as we continue to develop and expand the nation’s leading source of retirement industry education.”

Kaplan, who is also a former high school basketball coach, is a graduate of the State University at Albany, NY and has a graduate degree from William Paterson University in New Jersey.
