Finnegan Receives 2020 Edward E. Burrows Distinguished Achievement Award

ARLINGTON, VA – The American Society of Enrolled Actuaries (ASEA) has honored Tom Finnegan with the 2020 Edward E. Burrows Distinguished Achievement Award.

The award is presented annually to a pension actuary who has gone above and beyond the call of the profession in advancing ethics, education, beneficial legislation or regulations that enhance the private pension system or the professionalism of enrolled actuaries within the private pension system.  Ed Burrows was a beacon in this regard, and ASEA (formerly ACOPA) honors him by presenting an award that recognizes those who follow his example.

Finnegan is President of the Actuarial Division at CBIZ Retirement Plan Services. He provides actuarial, design and consulting services to a broad spectrum of plan sponsors, including public and private corporations, tax-exempt organizations, union-management groups and churches. Through CBIZ RPS, Tom oversees compliance for the actuarial group nationally.

He has over 30 years of experience in the employee benefits field. Tom is a former President of the American Retirement Association (ARA), the American Society of Pension Professionals and Actuaries (ASPPA) and ASEA and is the current chair of the ASEA Government Affairs Committee.

“Tom Finnegan has been a nationally recognized expert in the actuarial profession for decades,” commented Lauren Okum, President of ASEA.  “He is passionate about education and brings great insight - and humor - to his considerable volunteer activities for ASEA—he is a truly worthy recipient of this year’s Ed Burrows award.”
