ACOPA Honors Lawrence Deutsch with Edward E. Burrows Distinguished Achievement Award

CHICAGO, IL – The ASPPA College of Pension Actuaries (ACOPA) has honored Lawrence Deutsch, FSPA, EA, MAAA with the 2015 Edward E. Burrows Distinguished Achievement Award at the ACOPA Actuarial Symposium in Chicago.

The Edward E. Burrows Distinguished Achievement Award is presented annually to a pension actuary who has gone above and beyond in forwarding ethics, education, beneficial legislation or regulations that enhance the private pension system or the professionalism of enrolled actuaries within the private pension system.

“Larry was chosen to receive the Ed Burrows Award this year not only for his complete dedication to the actuarial profession, but also the impact he has had on what it means to be an ASPPA /ACOPA actuary,” said Mary Ann Rocco, former president of ACOPA and chair of the committee.

Larry is currently President of Larry Deutsch Enterprises and owner of Penguin Consulting and Design, Ltd. Larry has been an Enrolled Actuary and an ASPPA member for over three decades. During this time, Larry has served in many volunteer capacities including the ASPPA Board of Directors and Government Affairs Committee, the American Academy of Actuaries, the Actuarial Standards Board Pension Committees, and the Enrolled Actuary-2 Exam writing committee. Larry is a frequent speaker at ASPPA, ACOPA and other actuarial conferences, and hosts an annual ‘Non-Discrimination Testing Symposium’ which is attended by TPA’s and actuaries from all over the country.

About ACOPA: The ASPPA College of Pension Actuaries (ACOPA) is part of the American Retirement Association. ACOPA is responsible for identifying and addressing the professional development needs of the organization’s actuarial membership, preparing formal comments, position papers, and other relevant pronouncements involving federal regulatory authorities and standard setting bodies, and carrying out ASPPA’s responsibilities as one of the recognized U.S.-based actuarial organizations.
